The documentary in cinema and television: images and meanings in dispute
Description:
“The documentary in cinema and television: images and meanings in dispute” aims to broaden, deepen, and systematize studies that have been developed over recent years in the documentary field, be that in cinema, arts or television. The project reflects on documentary images and practices that extend and displace the notion of document. Thus, the document is considered as a multilayered composition of times, senses, gaps, a composition open to new readings, and not an object given a priori (Comolli, 2004; Didi-Huberman, 2003; Mitchell, 2011). The project focuses on the possibility of reading the image-document as cognitive, affective, and sensorial map whose immediate referents offer space for associations, juxtapositions, and new immersions.
